The University of Western Australia

Problem

Every year The University of Western Australia (UWA) participates in the three-day Careers Expo at the PCEC. In previous years, their stand has been very small and plain, and was over shadowed by other universities. This year UWA tasked us to create a space that would stand out from the rest.

Solution

We wanted to position UWA as a modern, progressive university that is friendly and engaging; a place that offers world class education and prepares students for the future.

Idea

We developed the concept of ‘The Incubator’ where students could casually chat to a UWA staff member or peers in a comfortable and practical space.

Execution

We built two walls that would section off the stand to define UWA’s area. The flooring was covered with astroturf and together with the wooden panel design on the walls, the organic and welcoming feel was enhanced by the furniture chosen, which included wooden crates and plants.

The reverse side of the walls had branding messages such as ‘Start your pursuit around the corner’, the design not only provided a wayfinding message, but supported UWA’s overall brand positioning of ‘Pursue Impossible’.

Results

The level of interaction this year was incomparable to previous years and the level of interaction was high.
