Bunbury Geographe - Brand Development
The southwest of WA has long been a tourist destination and focus for development and investment, however, the Greater Bunbury region has experienced lower awareness in comparison to more well-known destinations in the area. Challenged with this, and combined with out-of-date external perceptions, The City of Bunbury and Shires of Dardanup, Harvey and Capel joined forces to drive investment and growth in their region.
Idea and execution
To increase awareness of the area’s constant development, and to unify the region, we developed a brand identity that brings the shires together and connects the diversity of the area. We wanted to position the Bunbury Geographe area as vibrant and cosmopolitan from a tourism, industry and residential perspective.
By connecting the two worlds of a unique urban center with its beautiful, natural surrounds, the brand name Bunbury Geographe stands to represent everything the region offers. We reflected this diversity through the design. Using simple, bold typography to create a sense of stability and strength, contrasted against something more fluid, handcrafted and natural. Building on this concept of connection, we developed a brand language that combines ‘B’ and ‘G’ words that represent the region in a multitude of ways.
The region now has ownership of a strong and unified brand, perfectly positioned to drive investment and awareness on a local, national and global scale
